The resolution on Belarus is accepted

On March 10 the European Parliament has accepted another resolution devoted to infringement of human rights in Belarus.
Fifth point of resolution is talking about the necessity to observe the rights of religious freedom.
Let's remind that December 17, 2009 the European Parliament already accepted the similar resolution. In its context it was discussed expectation to give rights to Minsk New Life church to operate freely.
 
The lawyer of church «New Life» has been detained by militia (police)

The lawyer of New Life church has been detained on February, 11th in Independence prospect for preaching.
The organising press-service committee has informed on it on a party creation “the Belarus Christian democracy”.
Sergey Lukanin preached among youth. Employees of militia have accepted him for the Pole who holds antistate meeting.
 
Believer is arrested for refusal to take the weapon in hands

The member of a Jew-messianic community "New testament" Ivan Mihajlov is sentenced to 3 months of arrest.
As site “European Belarus” informs, Ivan Mihajlov is returned guilty of criminal offence fulfillment - «evasion from appeal actions on military service».
Ivan Mihajlov refused passage of urgent military service as it contradicts his religious beliefs and demanded taking of civil (alternative) service according to item 57 of the Constitution of Belarus.
 
In the country 47 new religious communities appeared

In 2009 in Belarus it is not registered new religious directions. The Representative on affairs of religions and nationalities Leonid Guljako informed on it on January, 14th at session of board following the results of development of ethno confessional spheres last year.
According to Leonid Guljako, «in Belarus the role of traditional faiths» continues to increase.
 
The court has justified the priest

On January, 6th, 2010 criminal case against the priest «New Generation church» Armen Kagramanjan has been stopped in court of the Frunze area of Minsk city. After judicial sessions which lasted almost three months, all charges against him have been removed.
Earlier was informed on steadfast attention from law enforcement bodies to a family of the priest «New Generation church».
 
Pressure upon Kagramanyan family proceeds

Earlier it was informed on steadfast attention from law enforcement bodies to a family of the people of «New generation church». According to edition belarusnews.ru the authorities continue to put pressure upon Kagramanyan family. One of the purposes of this pressure is deportation from Belarus of the chief of the family Armen Kagramanjan. Armen has residence permit in Belarus more than 15th years, and is not absolutely clear, for what reasons citizenship is not given him till now.
 
The militia interrogates believers

Recently evangelical believers become object of steadfast attention of law enforcement bodies of Belarus.
As informs a site www.belarusnews.ru, recently militiaman in the beat who set the questions, concerning creeds has visited the house of Kagramanjan family from Minsk.
Among other questions were: “Are you believers? The attendant? What church do you serve in? What relation do you have to Kovaleva, 72? (The New Life church address) Do you hold there the services? And where do you hold services at home? What did you do in Kovaleva, 72 in the New Life church?”
 
US State department: the Belarus mode limits religious freedom

Belarus has undergone to the sharp criticism in the annual report of US State department on a situation with a freedom of worship in the world.
As informs “Radio Freedom”, in the State department report Belarus is ranked as the countries in which there is no full religious freedom for all believers.
 
Polish priests are forbidden to work in Belarus

The permission was not prolonged for three Roman-Catholic priests from Grodno diocese for religious activity in Belarus for 2009.
To padres Yan Bronovsky from village Galynka of Grodno region, Yan Skonechny from town village Porozovo of Svisloch region and Anjey Kravchik from Slonim, who have lived in Belarus for a long time, are ordered to finish their activity in the country to the 1st of January 2009...
 
Mitropolit Thaddeus Kondrusevich: «The Catholic church is in difficult situation today»

Archbishop Thaddeus Kondrusevich is worried of interference of Byelorussian authorities into the life of Belarusian Catholic Church.
He said about it in the conference on the 10th of November, which took place on the occasion of his canonical assumption of an office of Minsk-Mogilev Mitropolit.
